Getting to Raffles Seychelles is part of the setting: a 15-minute flight from Mahé lands on Praslin, Seychelles' second-largest island, where 87 private pool villas step down a hillside above Anse Takamaka beach. The resort opened in 2011 as an all-villa retreat and, by the hotel's account, was the first Raffles resort, with villas ranging from mountain-top eyries with panoramic views to a tropical beachfront garden. Anse Lazio beach is within a five-minute drive, and the resort's own island guide points to the Vallée de Mai, home of the coco de mer palm, and to Aldabra giant tortoises. The Raffles Spa has private outdoor treatment rooms overlooking the ocean and the tropical landscape.
