Why it's holistic

  • Miraval's holistic philosophy is grounded in mindfulness as a total-life practice rather than a relaxation technique, a distinction that shapes everything from the structure of its spa menu to the way meals are taken and conversations are facilitated on the property.
  • The desert setting is not incidental: the Sonoran landscape's austerity, silence, and beauty create conditions for the kind of perceptual shift that Miraval's programmes are designed to support.
  • Its equine experience, energy work, and desert immersion experiences make it one of the most genuinely transformative resorts in North America.

About

In the high Sonoran Desert north of Tucson, Miraval has built one of the most celebrated mindfulness-based wellness resorts in the United States, a property that combines the elemental drama of the desert landscape with a programme designed around what it calls 'purposeful living'. The Santa Catalina Mountains frame the property on three sides, the saguaro cacti cast long shadows at dawn and dusk, and the entire daily rhythm of the resort is designed to move guests from habitual patterns into conscious presence. Equine-assisted experience, energy restorative, desert hiking, yoga, and meditation are offered alongside more conventional spa experience, and the overall philosophy — that a changed relationship with experience changes everything — is consistently and coherently applied.
