Why it's holistic
- Time outdoors, and the way the resort is run, shape the days here.
- Guests are pointed toward volcano trails and the protected marine park, and the resort describes itself as eco-conscious, with solar panels supplying almost all of its energy needs.
- The ocean-fed lagoon gives newcomers a sheltered place to learn to dive, and the grounds are planted as gardens across the 40 acres.
- Padel and pickleball courts sit against the backdrop of the volcano, and complimentary activities from tennis to swimming keep the days active.
About
The Quill, Statia's dormant volcano, fills the view from Golden Rock Dive & Nature Resort, which covers 40 acres of gardens where the volcano meets the Atlantic. Statia Divers is based on site and runs dives in the island's protected marine park. Guests can also hike the Quill, where trails include one into its forested crater. On the grounds there are padel and pickleball courts, a tennis court, an ocean-fed lagoon and complimentary activities from board games to kiting, and an electric train, the Golden Express, loops the resort all day. Two restaurants welcome guests and casual visitors. A field of 2,240 solar panels supplies almost all of the resort's energy.
